Here are the final colored versions of Chowder wrestling with his Dislexia. Mark Bachcand did the final pass on the characters and Laura Dalesandoro cleaned them up.

another old vacation photo, from England.
this is actually the Yum Yum Donuts on Glenoaks by work, but I was too lazy to paint the suburban streets of Burbank behind it so I moved it to Palm Springs. You can tell because the trees which I had to make up suck and don't fit in.
Going through some old photos, here's Tokyo

Last weekend Rachel signed us up for a class at the Getty Villa on Ancient Greek cooking. It was very fun and inspired me to do greyscale on this drawing i did a while ago. We learned some fascinating things about Greek drinking parties and there'll be some drawings about it comin up soon.

Got to do something fun at work today, not that reference lists aren't fun. There's a very special episdode of Chowder where he battles Dislexia and I got to draw up some comps of him battling letters (and a number). thanks Carl!
I just got CS3 installed on my computer at work and now I can finally use all those cool brushes I stole from Chris Appelhans without crashing. I made this amazing piece of new age art, it's either something you see from the Hubble Telescope or that VD you picked up on the toilet seat at the Renaissance Faire.

Haevn't had any time for fun postings lately because of so much freelance work. But here is an entry from my 2nd favorite book called "The Word Museum" full of antiquated English words like:
GARDYLOO: A cry which servants in the higher stories of Edinburgh give after 10 pm when they throw the contents of chamber pots out the window onto the street below. This also coincidentally is seen in the first shot of the pilot I'm working on with my friend Darrick Bachman.

I have to preface this one by saying that like everywhere we go, 99% of people couldn't be nicer to us and Austria and Bavaria were certainly no exception. We met many many very sweet, nice, friendly, helpful people. However... they are no fun to draw. And we did meet a few people who lived up to the stereotype of being very harsh and severe... and they are fun to draw. So here they are.

The 2nd thing was seeing a pigeon picking at an abandoned Bratwurst. It was pretty disgusting.
Just returned from a 2 and a half week trip to Austria and Bavaria. And of course noticed a lot of things I Like and Don't Like about it. The first thing was getting off the airplane after 12 hours and walking right into the middle of a huge cloud of cigarette smoke.

I felt the black and white version didn't quite capture the majestic nature of the scene. This is more how I remember it.

The thing I loved the most about Tokyo is that it's a city that happens in all 3 dimensions and maybe even a fourth, as opposed to LA where thing only happen on the x and y axis . Anything can be anywhere at anytime. Bowling Alley or a Toilet Showroom on the 25th floor, no problem. Full Scale Retail Mall or Pachinko Parlor 2 stories underground? also not a problem. As well as embracing things you don't ordinarily find in an American City like 50 foot tall Gorilla Statues hanging from the sides of buildings or 100 foot tall animating Crab Signs flailing their legs on the side of a sckyscraper. And at least 7 layers of transportation starting with 3 levels of subways underground, street traffic, local trains, bullet train tracks and the expressway above that towering 100 feet off the ground.
